J.K. Rowling of Harry Potter Fame - Glimpses of Genius
79J.K. Rowling - Who is This Genius?
J.K. Rowling aka Joanne Rowling of Harry Potter fame, is the most fascinating author in my lifetime. She went from welfare recipient to become one of the wealthiest women in Great Britain in a very brief time in the 90's. How can an unpublished author accomplish such a task? I recently watched her life story in the movie "Magic Beyond Words", and do not understand the fast pace of her success. She apparently conceived the idea of "Harry Potter" on a long train ride in 1990 and then hand wrote and later typed her first manuscript on a rickety typewriter from a pawnshop
So who is this tall English blond woman with crisp British accent and breathtaking glamour and what is she like? She has written seven books, all of which became movies, about wizardry. Every child in the entire world probably knows Harry Potter books. He came from an abusive background and then went to a School of Wizardry in the popular fiction books.
She graduated from Exeter University, England with a Literature degree and loved reading and writing since childhood. Allegedly, the world of fantasy was her childhood play, and writing about it enthralled her. She grew up drawing pictures of wizards and goblins from her vivid imagination. I don't believe anyone knows if her writing or creativity was prevalent in her family. She did have an aunt who was an avid reader and taught classics. Her mother died when Joanne was in her twenties, and Joanne's first marriage was abusive. It appears that these tragedies come alive in undertones in her books. Many of the characters from her books allegedly come from real life. The books also parallel parts of her life, according to some people. A great resemblance exists between Harry Potter and her current husband with his dark hair and dark horn rimmed glasses.
Her first book was published im 1997, and her seventh book in 2007. When she started writing, she had a young child and wrote while her child from her first marriage. napped. She often wrote in a coffee shop near her home with her little one beside her.. At this time, she reluctantly and briefly accepted welfare assistance, while living in Edinburgh near her sister. She says that she worked and supplemented her income with welfare assistance. Conflicting information may be due to changes in the movie version. From there, she rapidly progressed to the heights of achievement.
Her books have sold in the millions, first published in England and then in the United States. She has either won or been nominated for many awards over the years. In 2011, she set up a website called Pottermore.com., which promotes eBooks from her series. She currently is married to an anesthetist and has three children, residing on a large estate in Scotland. She continues to be a private person like her hero, Harry Potter. She possesses charisma, glamour, perfection in makeup and hair, a look of royalty, and heads turn when she enters any room. Readers will peruse her books for hundreds of years, and her genius will live on forever.

Your last two sentences indicate your love for her. You might want to tone it down alittle.
I am also a big fan of her work.
A beautiful, concise glimpse of a writer who's time had come. Talk about a quantum leap! Your coverage of her phenomenal rise is inspirational and obviously you have many of her qualities or you would not have recognized them in her!
Thank you for publishing this fascinating article about this fascinating person. I am going to look for the "Magic Beyond Words" film. I enjoyed your excellent and pithy Hub very much.
I agree that Joanne Rowling is a genius. The Harry Potter series is inspired by that genius. Your article is right-on. I wonder how JKR would rate in a list of famous and recognized authors. IMO, she is in the company of Dickens, Hemingway, Christie, Swift, Poe, Twain, and Melville.
