Cox to Outlook 2003
When you update to Windows 7, Outlook Express is not available. If you had Cox Outlook Express, you can update to Cox on Outlook 2003 or 2007, using the Cox web mail program. It is a little tricky to add all the required settings, but it is worth it. You can also change the fonts on Outlook if they are too small to see adequately.
Go to Outlook and you will see tools at top of page. Scroll to email accounts. A wizard will come up, and you will fill in the blanks. You will check to set up a new email account, then next. Enter Pop 3 and click next, then enter your name as you wish it to appear in email and then the email address. You must use one you set up for Cox, click next and enter the domain name, Cox.Net. You can go to Cox email support to get the settings. Mine were Incoming: pop.east.cox.net Outgoing: smtp.east.cox.net. The other settings are west and central. Then enter the user name and password as it was in Outlook Express.
Then click test settings to ensure they are correct. If correct, click on more settings in the general tab, and enter cox.net for name of account. On advanced, be sure the incoming port is 110 and outgoing 25. Click OK, next and finish. You can also set up other Cox accounts with other names, if you desire, for other family members or a disposable address for yourself. You must set them up in Cox user settings first, or Outlook will reject the names. Then set up the new names in Outlook.
Leave a copy at the server
Your Cox web mail should soon arrive at Outlook when you enter send/receive. although it may take a little while to complete the procedure.. . If you want a copy of the email left at the website, you can select that choice by checking a block in Outlook. Go to tools at top of page, click on email account s Click on an account which brings up the wizard. Check view and change settings, then change ISP Click more settings, click advanced and then delivery. Then click on leave a copy on the server. Select the number of days to keep copies to not overload it and leave open the chance that new email may not be downloaded to Outlook. With this protection, in the event of a computer failure or storm, you can still check email at another computer at web mail of your Cox account.
.Please note that some computers have problems with leaviing a copy at the website. Please call Cox if you have this issue. Also check with Microsoft, as your computer may need a hotfix or an updated service pack.

Outlook With a Little Humor
From Computer Crash to Windows 7 and Outlook
My computer with Windows XP crashed, and I bought a new computer with Windows 7. Since this upgrade took away Outlook Express, I chose to use Cox Webmail with Outlook. I loved Windows XP, and it became somewhat cumbersome to learn Windows 7. The XP version may have been the best, but apparently was not very secure. I wish I could have XP forever as it was very user friendly and had become my friend in the digital age. After six years, in spite of my virus and adware protection, it became rampant with viruses. A technician reinstalled Windows, but Internet Explorer was corrupt. I used Mozilla until it started causing problems, and I ended up with Safari browser, using it for two months, until I bought my new computer. I spent hours of my time learning Outlook until it satisfied me. I used Outlook 2003 from my previous computer after experts told me it was compatible. The only problems with Outlook, as I learned more about it, was leaving a copy at the server, and the fonts were too small.

Ode to Windows XP
How I did love my Win XP
I wish it was still here
But crash it went its merry way
Win 7 came, oh dear
